God's Pharmacy

This list is designed to be a creative reminder to eat healthy and to serve as a fun exploration into the wonders of nature. Perhaps, some of the critics are simply bemoaning the title. My response: "Lighten up, it's healthier.

  2. I don't want to offend any religious folk... but please, please stop watering down real science with bull.

Since I don't want to look like a douche, I'll give a real argument even though this doesn't deserve one...
Correlation does not imply causality. Even if it did, finding a few stretched examples when there are literally THOUSANDS of counterexamples does not imply a correlation.

  3. Hi Slifty

To each their own thoughts. Even if you take God out of this post the foods still look like certain body parts and have been used for 100's of years for natural healing. I believe science has a place in our world but for my food I'll go real, nothing personal of course.

  5. Hi Larry - I always enjoy your comments. I'm not concerned about comments on this post. Like I said, to each their own. I don't write to please everyone, I write things that mean something to me.
Thanks Larry and no worries here.

  6. Hey Robin - I appreciate the respectful response, and I'm sorry for sounding rude. I'll take off my troll hat.

I didn't mean to come off as saying that I thought natural healing (which I take in this case to mean eating foods that give your body the right stuff to heal) was "bull".

What I was trying to say was that I don't think it makes sense to say that the *reason* for a particular look is because of it's natural effect on the human body. I suppose this is where, as you say, to each their own.

Each of the foods you listed have a LOT of benefits on the human body. The pattern you note is a nice way to remember what's what, but calling it a conscious and "intentional" relationship ignores a lot of the complexity behind how these things came to be - either directly through a higher being, or through the plans of a higher being (i.e. evolution).

  7. Hi Slifty - No worries here at all. You have a right to say your feelings. I do understand what your point is and I respect it.

I didn't create The doctrine of signatures and can't take credit for God's Pharmacy, but did find it interesting enough to pass along.
    Great day to you,

  8. Yes, and marijuana helps your fingers, sausage is good for your colon, grape stems improve circulation, peaches help your butt and melons are good for your wife's... you get the point.

With respect, this is misinformation piled on pseudo-science.

For example, neither celery nor bones are 23% sodium (Try 2.5% for bones and 0.08% for celery). On top of this, excessive sodium leeches calcium from the body and is, in fact, bad for your bones.

Anyone who can see a pony in a cloud can link nearly any food to an organ; especially since most fruits and most organs are variations of roundness.

  9. Hi Matt and all the other readers from a Science site. Again I did not create the doctrine of signatures It is an ancient European philosophy that held that plants bearing parts that resembled human body parts, animals, or other objects, had useful relevancy to those parts, animals or objects.

I also cannot take credit for the title God's Pharmacy. I have no idea the original source. I first read it in an email a while back. Funny how I published this on July 29th and now it's being circulated through Science and other blogs.

People I am not trying to offend anyone - just thought it was interesting. Don't take it so serious - I'm not a Doctor never claimed to be.

  10. Robin,

First of all, I'm not from a "Science site." Not even sure what that is in reference to.

But I think this article offends many because it contains incorrect information. It doesn't matter that you did not create the information. You are still spreading it.

Take some responsibility. If you don't know about health care, why are you spreading supposed health-care information?

  11. Thanks for visiting Matt. Point understood and comments always welcome. BTW, post revised with google search showing others spreading the info.

  14. I think everyone is missing the REAL point here! It's really not about the percentage of sodium in celery or the shape of the food. It's about the LORD being the creator, Alpha & Omega... and the LORD is GOOD! So is the food that was created by HIM!! Robin exemplifies the glory of GOD by her patience here.
