Drinking Coffee And NOT Eating In The Morning Halts Weight Loss


I'm a participant (auditor) in a weight loss program that is quite unusual, at least it's unusual based on what I've aways believed about weight loss and health. I'm in the program to get rid of the belly baby fat I've had since the birth of my son 10 years ago.

During the call last Saturday I learned my first mistake was skipping breakfast. I would drink coffee first thing in the morning and then I wasn't hungry. Dr. Heidi told us, "since coffee is a stimulant that kills your appetite that's why you're not hungry in the mornings. Many people may think that's good."

"Not eating signals your body to pump up her fat storing machine. Your body is designed to protect you. When you don't eat for several hours or more, your body perceives a famine coming. So it makes more fat-storing enzymes. The longer and more often you go without eating, the more efficient your body becomes - at fat storing. (!) [your body does that to protect you so there's something in her storage bin for you in case you go even longer without eating. She knows you might need it for energy later.] "

After working with Dr. Heidi I've replaced my coffee with Decaf green tea with coconut oil in it. Dr. Heidi designed a breakfast drink for me based on what my body needs. My belly baby fat is going down after eating in the morning, who knew?

  1. It's great that is working for you. But I'm not sure that will work for me, in the morning I need to eat something that's "solid" and not just liquids. My choices so far are fruits with yogurt and ryvita with cheese, which is working well for me.

    I feel great knowing I'm getting some food in the morning, solid or in a drink. I've always been so rushed in the morning and never took the time to eat. My morning drink has helped me but the important message here is to get some kind of food in your body every morning.
