Fruits and Nuts Boosts Estrogen

Eating foods rich in the mineral boron can boost estrogen levels in postmenopausal women to a stunning degree - as much as taking estrogen replacement therapy does, according to studies by U.S. Department of Agriculture researcher Dr. Forrest Nielsen. Boron seems to work, he says, by boosting steroid hormones in the blood. He documented that in women getting adequate amounts of boron, the most active form of estrogen - estradiol 17B - doubled, reaching levels found in women on estrogen replacement.

The diet of the average American contains about half the boron found effective in the studies.

High levels of boron are found in fruit, especially apples, pears, grapes, dates, raisins and peaches; in legumes, especially soybeans; in nuts, including almonds, peanuts and hazelnuts; and in honey.

You could get the dosed used in the study by eating a couple of apples a day and three and a half ounces of peanuts.

  3. Thank you Robin! Your blog has helped me find out a way of saving my health from side-effects of HRT. I shall try to include your recommended foods in my diet and test myself for one month before I have the doctor's appointment. By the way, I am suffering from premature menopause at the age of 34yrs and am scared to go for HRT referring to its side effects explained by the doctor. If I can get normal with the diet suggested on your blog, I shall be the most thankful person on earth for your contribution on the net! Shall come back at your webpage and update you on the results. I want other readers to feel positive about the effects too.
